HECO Pole Installation Notice
Reliable service and the safety of Hawaiian
Electric’s customers and employees are our highest priorities. This requires
regular work on our infrastructure, including installing and replacing utility
poles as needed. The new poles are often taller and wider than the existing
poles in order to allow for adequate spacing between the power lines and to
comply with the 2002 National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and Hawaiian
Electric’s current construction and maintenance standards.
As part of a requirement from the Hawai‘i
Public Utilities Commission (PUC), residential customers who live near an
electrical utility pole that is being replaced or installed will be notified
and provided with the option to request a waiver/exemption of the applied
standards. Instructions on how to request a waiver/exemption will be included
in the notification.
Additionally, the area neighborhood boards are
also to be notified of these activities. As chairs of your respective
neighborhood board, Hawaiian Electric will inform you of any poles being
replaced or installed in your community. No action will be required on
your part, but you are welcome to contact us if you would like more information
about any of the poles.
Within
several weeks, the utility pole will be replaced or installed at the following
location in your district:
